The Opportunity

The Registered Nurse – Surgical Ward will be responsible for providing exceptional post-operative care to patients recovering from surgical procedures. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to support patients and their families during recovery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of post-operative patients and develop individualised care plans

  • Monitor patient recovery, including vital signs and signs of complications

  • Administer prescribed medications and implement pain management protocols

  • Provide wound care, ensuring infection prevention and promoting healing

  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in line with SANC regulations

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the surgical ward


Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing

  • Current SANC registration as a Registered Nurse

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a surgical ward or related environment

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, post-operative care, and pain management

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Advanced Life Support (ALS) advantageous

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
