Unit Manager Theatre

As the leading medical recruitment agency in South Africa, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Unit Manager to be based in Berea, Durban.

The client

The opportunity

This role is responsible for coordinating and managing high-quality nursing care within the theatre unit. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with professional, ethical and quality standards while overseeing clinical operations, financial performance and staff development within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage safe, effective and cost-efficient nursing care within the theatre unit

• Manage staff allocation, skill mix and acuity levels to ensure optimal service delivery

• Oversee departmental costs, budgeting and financial controls

• Ensure accurate billing, stock control, purchasing and inventory management

• Maintain timeous and accurate clinical documentation and records

• Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement measurable quality initiatives

• Support capacity building through mentoring, training and staff development

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards and internal policies

Requirements

• Valid SANC registration

• Relevant nursing qualification Diploma in General Nursing or BCur Degree

• Post basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing is essential

• Nursing management qualification is advantageous

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a private hospital setting within a specialised discipline

• Proven experience in clinical and operational management

• Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data

• Computer literacy, including Microsoft applications
