As the leading medical recruitment agency in South Africa, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Unit Manager (Day Theatre) to be based in Boksburg, Gauteng. 


The Client

A respected private healthcare provider known for person‑centred care, clinical excellence, and a strong culture of quality and safety within multidisciplinary teams. 


The Opportunity

Lead the Day Theatre unit, driving high standards of preoperative nursing care, compliance, and patient safety while mentoring a capable team and partnering with surgeons and allied professionals to deliver efficient, consistent theatre outcomes. 


Key responsibilities

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Day Theatre unit to ensure safe, efficient lists and excellent patient experiences. 

  • Champion compliance with professional and ethical practice standards and relevant healthcare legislation. 

  • Lead and develop theatre staff through coaching, mentoring, training, and capacity building. 

  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to strengthen quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Uphold documentation, infection prevention, and risk management best practices within the unit. 


Requirements

  • Diploma in General Nursing / B Cur or equivalent NQF 7.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science. 

  • Current SANC registration and sound knowledge of applicable healthcare legislation. 

  • Proven theatre experience and clinical leadership capability. 

  • Strong understanding of specialised nursing theory, modern perioperative care principles, and quality standards.
