As the leading medical recruitment agency in South Africa, we have a role for a Senior IT Technical Backup Administrator for a large private hospital group. The Backup Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of backup hardware, software and related infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Engineering of Backup related solutions for various project and operational needs.
Install new / rebuild existing systems and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Perform backup and restore operations by using Azure backup
Perform site to site recovery using Azure Site Recovery
Configure and review Azure backup reports
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all data, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
Upgrade and configure backup system software that protects infrastructure or applications as per project or operational needs.
Interfaces with Information Management Team and IT Technical team to define and create infrastructure services and solutions in line with business requirements
Interface with 3rd party vendors to ensure operations conform to best practice and industry standards.
Perform operations as part of the technical Infrastructure team
Mentor and involve junior team members and provide in house training as required.
Manage personal KPI's in accordance with company policy and performance management guidelines.
Ensure that the infrastructure team meets the agreed incident, problem and service level agreements.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Grade 12 with relevant tertiary qualification in the IT Field
IBM Tivoli Qualification / Microsoft Azure cloud
Minimum 4 - 5 years in Systems administration role
Minimum 4 -5 years backup administrator position
Desired Knowledge and Skills:
IBM Systems and Server architecture
IBM tape library architecture
IBM Tivoli Storage manager
Azure cloud backups
Backup designs, concepts and architecture
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
