The Role

The purpose of the Registered Nurse Theatre position with Orthopaedics experience is to provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the theatre setting. The role focuses on assisting the surgical team, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the perioperative process. Administer medications and intravenous fluids as directed by the surgeon or anesthetist and provide post-operative care to patients, monitoring their recovery and addressing any immediate concerns or complications. You’ll be collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and promote positive patient outcomes while participating in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge in orthopaedics and perioperative nursing.


What will you need?

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

  • Registered with Nursing Council of New Zealand or is in the process of Registration

  • Sound clinical knowledge with minimum 3 years experience

  • Proven experience working in a theatre setting, specifically with orthopaedic procedures.

  • Familiarity with orthopaedic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.

  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills to effectively monitor patients and respond to changing situations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the surgical team and provide patient education.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
