Exciting opportunity based in Cape Town for a Cath Lab Nurse to assists the Cardiac doctor in performing diagnostic and therapeutic percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on patients with heart disease and defects.
Requirements
Diploma/degree in nursing
Registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
Endoscopic experience is advantageous
Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with doctors
Responsibilities:
Practices patient care according to his/her Scope of Practice and assumes total responsibility for these activities.
Effective communication with patients regarding their care.
Provides and supervises the delivery of evidence based nursing care audit of health records to ensure compliance
Ensure that high standards are maintained at all times in cathlab theatre
The surgical scrub for procedures and management of aseptic techniques must be adhered to consistently
Adherence and compliance of the OCC health and safety act
Adhere to the legal and professional requirements by ensuring accurate completion of patient documentation
Ensure that medical stock products are charged ethically and honestly
Assumes responsibility for maintaining competence in CPR
Participate in a minimum of 12 in service education sessions per annum, to stay up to date with the latest medical, surgical and supplies/equipment techniques
Promotes and maintains good working and interpersonal relationship with management, colleagues and doctors.
Mentoring and supervision of junior healthcare providers and support staff
Participate in in-service training programs (Nursing CPD points)
