The Client

Our client is a well-established private internal medicine practice with a long-standing reputation for providing high-quality patient care. The practice manages a diverse range of medical conditions across both outpatient and inpatient settings and has developed a strong referral network within the local healthcare community.

The Opportunity

This is a rare succession-planning opportunity for a Physician seeking a long-term future in private practice. The successful candidate will work closely alongside an experienced Specialist Physician during a structured transition period, gaining exposure to an established patient base, hospital-based medicine, and private practice operations.

The role includes consulting with patients, conducting daily ward rounds, participating in ICU patient management, and contributing to the ongoing care of private hospital patients. Candidates with an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to eventually lead and grow their own practice will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Consult and manage patients presenting with a broad range of internal medicine conditions

• Conduct daily hospital ward rounds for private patients

• Participate in the management of ICU patients where required

• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records

• Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals

• Provide high-quality patient-centred care across outpatient and inpatient settings

• Participate in shared after-hours and weekend call responsibilities

• Contribute to the continued growth and success of the practice

Requirements

• MBChB qualification

• Current HPCSA registration

• Registered Specialist Physician preferred

• General Physicians are encouraged to apply

• Experience managing hospital inpatients and conducting ward rounds

• ICU experience advantageous

• Interest in gastroenterology beneficial but not essential

• Strong clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently within a private practice environment

• Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in long-term practice development
